Psychopaths At The Library

Branch: Steinway (Queens)

Notable Attributes: When not in communication with the Hale-Bopp comet (as in this photo) he would make hand gestures to a friend all the way across the room who was reading the paper. The two left the library simultaneously, without either uttering a word.

Branch: Broadway (Queens)

Notable Attributes: Apart from winning first prize in the Allen Ginsburg lookalike contest, this public library denizen spent most of the time staring at the people who had signed up for computer time. He also had an envelope in his hand upon which had written the library hours for each day of the week.

Branch: Steinway (Queens)

Notable Attributes: Watched Tomb Raider (or was it Tomb Raider 2?) on a portable DVD player. Despite use of headphones, volume loud enough that all could hear. Kept the device very, very close to his face during certain sequences.

Branch: 58th St. (Manhattan)

Notable Attributes: Read a few pages of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One, slept for a while, woke, read a few more pages, then slept, repeated cycle for longer than I was willing to wait around.

Notable attributes: Sat sideways on extreme edge of chair, hardly touching it at all, reading magazine for over an hour. Had many papers in breast pocket.

Notable attributes: Two loud sleep-burps. One full-on awake major burp, without an inch of remorse.

Of note: Man in back left corner greatly resembles last civil war widow from Yosemite Sam cartoons. Later dropped papers and swatted at them with a cane.
